- In a joint effort to foster stronger collaboration in the fight against scams, Whoscall Philippines hosted its Whoscall Community Talk, gathering key representatives from government agencies, the private sector, educational institutions, and online communities. The event served as a platform to discuss the most pressing scam-related issues affecting different sectors and explore actionable solutions for building a safer digital environment for all Filipinos.
- Attendees included members of the Whoscall Philippines team, led by Gogolook Country Head and General Manager Mel Migriño, who presented the “State of Scams in the Philippines.” Other distinguished participants included Ms. Gigi Puno, Chief Information Officer of GoTyme Bank; Atty. Kristina Andal-Escosia from the Department of Migrant Workers Protection Bureau; academic leaders from Asia Pacific College; and student representatives from Mapúa Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines - MU Student Chapter. Online communities such as KasKasan Buddies, FinLit PH, and the Philippine Travel Association also joined to share their experiences and perspectives.
- Participants shared firsthand accounts of scam encounters, emphasizing that no one is immune to digital deception. Many stressed the importance of breaking the stigma around discussing scams, noting that open dialogue and shared experiences help raise awareness and prevent future incidents. They called for stronger coordination between government agencies and private organizations to improve collective defenses. Attendees agreed that efforts should shift from being simply reactive to proactive, focusing on education, prevention, and using reliable tools like Whoscall to spot and report potential threats early.
- The event concluded with a shared commitment to continued collaboration and advocacy for a more informed, vigilant, and digitally secure Filipino community.
