GCash says applications are approved in real time, after which users can fund their trading wallet without transfer fees and start placing stock orders.

The platform gives investors access to more than 280 companies listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange. Orders are matched by the exchange and can only be executed during official trading hours.

GStocks PH has been around since 2022, when GCash, AB Capital Securities, and the PSE launched the platform to make stock investing more accessible through a digital wallet.

Since then, the service has also changed its fee structure. The previous ₱20 broker commission was replaced with a 0.25% flat rate, while an IPO subscription feature was added so users can apply for shares of companies going public directly through the app.

The lower starting amount can make the stock market more approachable for first-time investors, but ₱500 is only the minimum amount needed to start. The actual amount needed will depend on the stock being purchased, its price, and the number of shares a user wants to buy.

The broader market is also becoming increasingly digital. PSE data showed that the number of local stock market accounts reached 3.64 million in 2025, up 27.3% from 2.86 million a year earlier.

Retail investors accounted for 99.2% of those accounts, while online trading platforms and e-wallets accounted for 3.22 million accounts, representing 30.5% growth from 2024.

For someone who has been curious about stocks but assumed investing required thousands of pesos or a separate brokerage setup, the ₱500 entry point offers a simpler way to get started.
