What is an RTB and why should you care?
A Retail Treasury Bond is a peso-denominated debt instrument issued directly by the Philippine government through the Bureau of the Treasury. When you buy an RTB, you are essentially lending money to the government — and in return, the government pays you quarterly interest for the duration of the bond, then returns your full principal when it matures.
RTBs are considered essentially risk-free from a default standpoint — the Philippine government has the taxing power to generate the funds to pay off its debt. It is one of the safest investments available to any Filipino.

Is RTB 32 right for you?
RTB 32 is well-suited for Filipinos who want a safe, government-guaranteed investment with regular quarterly income and a clear maturity date. With a minimum of ₱5,000, it is accessible to a far broader range of investors than most traditional financial products.
It is less suited for those who need their money back immediately — while RTB 32 can be sold on the secondary market before maturity through PDEx, the sale price depends on prevailing market rates and may be higher or lower than your original investment. If you sell before maturity, your principal is not guaranteed.
For investors currently keeping idle money in a zero-interest bank account who have funds they can set aside for 2.5 years — RTB 32 at a government-guaranteed rate, paid quarterly, with full principal return at maturity, is one of the most straightforward and credible options available this quarter.
The offer period closes October 7, 2026 — or earlier if the BTr deems subscriptions sufficient. Do not wait until the last day.
