The Philippines and UAE agreed to connect their payment systems, potentially making remittances faster and cheaper for OFWs and their families.

  • On April 14, 2026, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the Central Bank of the UAE officially agreed to connect their payment systems. The goal is simple: make sending money from the UAE to the Philippines faster, cheaper, and easier.
  • Right now, sending money from the UAE to the Philippines can cost more than 4% in fees. That means for every ₱10,000 sent home, over ₱400 goes to fees alone.

This agreement aims to change that. Once the systems are connected, money could move the same way InstaPay works here: fast, direct, and low-cost.

They also plan to connect card systems in the future, so even more payment options will be available for OFWs and their families.

One thing to note: this is NOT LIVE yet. Both countries signed the agreement, but the actual connection is still being built.
