If you have been saving in Maya and planning a trip to Japan, Korea, or anywhere that requires a visa, this app update quietly solves one of the most common headaches in travel finance.

Maya's latest app update now lets you see your Average Daily Balance (ADB) directly on your Savings dashboard — and download bank certificates or account statements with this information already included.

That one change matters more than it sounds.

Why ADB on your bank certificate is a big deal:

When you apply for a visa, embassies do not just want to see your current balance. They want to see your Average Daily Balance (ADB) — the average of all your daily balances over a given period, typically one to three months. ADB is the number that tells the embassy you are financially stable over time, not just someone who moved a large amount in right before the application.

Most embassies require both a bank certificate and bank statements — the certificate confirms your current balance, while the statements show your saving habits. Your ADB is what separates a strong application from a borderline one.

Previously, Maya's standard bank certificate format did not automatically include the ADB — users had to specifically request it to be added. With this update, it is now built in by default.

How much ADB do you actually need?

No embassy publishes a fixed official minimum, but here are the practical benchmarks used by visa consultants:

For Japan or Korea (5–7 days): a short trip costs roughly ₱170,000 all-in — your ADB should cover at least this, with a safety margin of 1.5x bringing the recommended figure to around ₱255,000.

For a US Tourist Visa (10 days): an ADB of around ₱600,000 is recommended to strengthen your approval chances for a short trip.

For Schengen countries (Europe): the general rule is to show ADB covering your full estimated trip cost plus a comfortable buffer — typically ₱300,000 to ₱500,000 depending on destination and duration.

How to request your Maya Bank Certificate for visa:

Open the Maya app → Go to Savings → Tap View Account Details → Choose Request a Bank Certificate → Select Visa Application as your purpose → Enter the embassy name and address → Confirm via OTP → Download your certificate immediately.

Your certificate will include your account name, account type, account number (last four digits), currency, available balance, opening date — and now, your ADB.

A few tips before you submit:

Always request your bank certificate close to your application date — some embassies require it issued within the last three months. Avoid sudden large deposits right before requesting — embassies may flag these and question the source of funds. Consistent, steady balances over 3 to 6 months tell a much stronger story than a single lump sum deposited the week before your application.

Maya's savings account currently offers competitive interest rates — meaning your visa fund is earning while you build it up. That is the smart way to prepare for any international trip.
