BDO has confirmed that starting July 1, 2026, the points-to-air-miles conversion rate for the BDO American Express Platinum Credit Card is being cut in half.
Until June 30, 2026, general airline partners convert at 1 point = 1 air mile (minimum 1,000 points, in increments of 500), while Mabuhay Miles already converts at 2 points = 1 air mile (minimum and increments of 2,000). Starting July 1, 2026, general airline partners drop to the same 2 points = 1 air mile rate (minimum and increments of 2,000), while Mabuhay Miles stays unchanged at 2 points = 1 air mile.
In plain terms: every point you have accumulated will fly half as far starting July 1 — unless it is going toward Mabuhay Miles, which stays at the same rate it has always been.
What this means in real numbers:
Under the current rate, 10,000 Membership Rewards points convert to 10,000 air miles with most airline partners. Starting July 1, that same 10,000 points will only convert to 5,000 air miles.
If you have been saving toward a specific redemption — a long-haul flight to Europe, the US, or Australia — the number of points required to get there effectively doubles overnight for every partner airline except Mabuhay Miles.
What is NOT changing:
Important to note: hotel loyalty point redemptions, voucher redemptions, and the annual fee waiver points requirement all remain exactly the same — no changes to those conversion rates or thresholds.
The benefits that make this card still worth using:
Despite the conversion rate cut, the BDO AmEx Platinum retains a strong core of premium travel benefits:
Unlimited local airport lounge access. A low 1.85% FOREX conversion fee on foreign currency transactions — among the more competitive rates in the market. Up to ₱20 million in free Family Travel Insurance, automatically included with the card.
What you should do before June 30:
If you have points sitting idle and a redemption in mind — convert them now, before the rate cut takes effect on July 1. Redeeming 10,000 points for 10,000 air miles today is twice as valuable as waiting until July to redeem the same points for only 5,000 miles.
If your redemption target is Mabuhay Miles specifically — there is no urgency. The 2:1 rate for Mabuhay Miles is not changing, so your accumulated points retain the same value whether you redeem before or after July 1.

Log in to your BDO account via BDO Pay, tap on your BDO American Express Platinum Credit Card, and select "Redeem Rewards Points."
