If you have ever swiped your Maya Credit Card for a big purchase and immediately thought "how am I going to pay this off?" — Maya just built the answer directly into your app.
Maya Mini Payments lets you turn any Maya Credit Card purchase into 3, 6, 9, or 12 monthly payments in a few taps — no calls, no forms, no hassle. Everything is managed and tracked entirely inside the Maya app.
How it works:
Anyone with a Maya Black Credit Card or Landers Cashback Everywhere Credit Card can use Mini Payments. You do not need to wait for an installment promo — any transaction can be converted into Mini Payments right on the app. Just select one or more transactions until you reach at least ₱3,000 to convert them into Mini Payments.
You have two conversion options:
Convert individual transactions:
Open Maya → Transactions → tap "Convert to Mini Payments" → select the transactions you want to convert → choose your payment term (3, 6, 9, or 12 months) → review the offer → name your plan → tap Accept. Done.
Convert your statement balance:
Tap your Maya Credit Card in the app → Statements → tap "Convert Bill to Mini Payments" → select the transactions → choose a payment plan → confirm → name your plan → Accept.
Once approved, your first installment will be posted on your next credit card statement and continue every month until the end of the term. The monthly dues will form part of your Minimum Amount Due.
The interest rate — read this before you convert:
Mini Payments splits purchases into 3 to 12 months with as low as 1% monthly add-on rate.
This is worth understanding clearly. A 1% monthly add-on rate is applied on the original principal — not on the declining balance. Using Maya's own calculator as an example: converting ₱80,000 over 12 months at 1% monthly add-on results in a monthly payment of approximately ₱7,458 and a total interest cost of ₱9,623.90.
That comes out to an effective interest rate higher than the 1% headline figure — because add-on rates calculate interest on the full original amount throughout the term, not on what you still owe. This is standard practice across Philippine banks for installment conversions — Maya's rate is competitive — but knowing how it works helps you make a smarter decision about which term to choose and whether to convert at all.
When Mini Payments makes sense:
For large, unavoidable purchases — back-to-school gadgets, appliances, medical expenses, emergency repairs — spreading the cost over 3 to 6 months at 1% add-on is significantly less damaging than carrying a revolving balance at the standard 3% monthly interest rate. Mini Payments is a planned, structured cost. Revolving debt is an open-ended one.
For smaller purchases under ₱3,000 or for amounts you can comfortably pay in full on your next statement — paying in full is still the better move. No interest, no add-on rate, no minimum.
The practical tips before you convert:
Choose the shortest term you can comfortably sustain. Shorter term = less total interest paid. A 3-month plan always costs less in total interest than a 12-month plan on the same amount — even at the same rate.
Make sure your monthly dues, including the Mini Payment installment, do not push your Minimum Amount Due beyond what you can reliably pay. Missing a minimum payment on a month with an active Mini Payment plan will still trigger a late fee.
Some Mini Payment plans may take up to 24 hours to approve. An option to cancel your plan or pay in advance will become available in a future update. Keep that in mind if you need immediate confirmation.
